Whilst we believe in breaking down as many barriers to participation as possible, the welfare of our participants (including volunteers) will always take priority. We also operate, as much as possible, a single global registration and results system. Therefore we are required to comply with wide-ranging international regulations as well as to respect differing cultures.
In all countries we operate in, parkrunners can record their gender as male or female, or alternatively they are free to keep that information private by selecting “prefer not to say”.
In the majority of parkrun countries we also offer a fourth option of “another gender identity”.
The additional options will be available during registration and when updating your parkrun profile (https://www.parkrun.com/profile/update)
Should a participant select “prefer not to say” or “another gender identity”, their result displayed will not include information for gender, gender position, gender or age category, or age grade. In this situation we do not publicly display which of these two options a parkrunner has selected.
Should an existing parkrunner change their gender identity on their parkrun profile, some historical records may not be accurate.
When claiming a milestone t-shirt via their profile, parkrunners who have not identified as either male or female will be able to select either style of t-shirt.
